Description
In 1897 Tom Lloyd moved to Yew Tree House near Yapton in Sussex. His garden there provided inspiration for many of the subjects for his paintings. The flowers in the foreground here are Sweet William and it is recorded that he named the family cat ‘Sweet William’. It should be noted that he exhibited another, different watercolour at the RWS under the title “Lilies and Sweet William”. Our present work is in excellent condition and has recently been represented.
